Peace-Sounds

In the light of the sun slowly disappearing behind the horizon, many more people gathered after the peace singing on Prinzipalmarkt, whose illumination already hinted at the evening's special closing event. After sunset, the musicians Frederik Köster on the trumpet from the Sentenzbogen and Tomasz Nowak on the organ in St. Lamberti took it in turns to improvise in short sets and let their associations around the theme of "peace" resound. Their different musical backgrounds, instruments and tonal languages immersed the Prinzipalmarkt in a very special mood and atmosphere. The word "peace", projected in various languages and fonts as a graphic collage onto the gabled houses between the town hall and Lamberti Church, underlined what it is all about.

Frederik Köster is a professor of jazz trumpet at the Institute of Music at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences and has won numerous awards, including at the International Jazz Festival in Münster (Westphalia Jazz Prize 2013). Tomasz Nowak is a professor of organ and improvisation at the Detmold University of Music, where he heads the church music department; he has also been principal organist at the Stadt- und Marktkirche St. Lamberti in Münster since 1999. The idea and concept for Friedens-Klänge were created by Fritz Schmücker.
